Merrell Men’s MOAB 3 Adventure Waterproof Mid Hiking Boots Earth $130.99 delivered @ Amazon AU
These are Merrell’s high-quality low-rise leather-upper hiking boots. They normally retail for just over $200. I really admire them. They will take a lot of punishment, keep out the water and look very good for what they are.
My previous Merrells have all been the plan Moab 2 or Moab 3 Mids (which have a mesh top). They have always tended to wear out in the Vibram sole at the heel after a couple of years; I walk 8000-10,000 steps a day in them. But the build quality has been great, and seems to be similarly good on the Adventure line.
Merrells tend to be half a size smaller than described; I usually take an 11½ so in these I look for a 12.
I’ve been scouring the country for these in a wide fitting at my size, so I can return the normal-fitting Moab Adventure 3s I bought last week. I thought those would do, but it turns out they’re not quite wide enough. I have very wide feet; for most people, the standard fitting will be fine. (Best and only wide-fits in my size are $279.99 at Athlete’s Foot. Gah.)
I’m not sure why Amazon has given these such a generic title, but the ID number (J003821) confirms these are as described in my title to this post.
