Had a few customers reach out to us over the weekend and ask us to price match a PC they’d configured based off a deal posted here on Friday from the competition (The on the in MSI M100R mATX chassis with the $225 gift card!).

We couldn’t do a direct comparative offer as we don’t carry the lower end version of the motherboard, we’re temporarily out of stock of the 7500F (from our last offer you guys cleared us out of!) and we also don’t carry the 650W bronze power supply they use. However as it turned out, we already had a similar’ish (slightly higher spec’d) offering in that same case with the same GPU / Case combo and while the other specs are were higher, we managed to get a pretty hefty discount applied to pitch it as a competing offer. After doing all the leg work and with our previous deals sold out / expired, we thought we’d open it up to everyone here on OZB in case they thought it was a worthwhile deal also.

It’s not an applies to apples comparison so here are the differences to take in to account we’ll list below.

CPU
Zen 5 9600X vs Zen 4 7500F. With latest Windows updates & 105w BIOS we’re seeing only 4-7% performance advantage to the 9600X in CPU bound gaming benchmarks but the 0.1% lows are as much as 20% better on the new Zen5 platform. In other multi-threaded CPU heavy tasks like rendering and encoding there is also 15-20% gains with the newer 9600X.
Retail DIY price ~ +$150 (not offered by competitor but they offer +$169 to upgrade to the slower 7600X)

Very similar, just ours has slightly lower latency CL30 vs CL32. Both SK Hynix A-Die.

Price Difference $297 for a DIY / retail value of component upgrades worth approx $330, or if spec’d to closest matching with competitors upgrade options, ~$479 (with 1TB of storage) or $578 (with 2TB total storage). 1.5TB isn’t an option, but you could split the difference at $528.5 if you wanted to assign a value per GB for competitive value purposes.

Of course we realize to a lot of folks who just want a plug-n-play gaming PC right now, saving $250-$300 (depending on shipping costs) up front is compelling for a relatively minor performance difference, to which would say, the competitors deal in the base configuration without upgrades might be your best bet! On the other hand if you were considering that deal with a few upgrades and had the extra $300 in the budget, I think we could out well ahead 🙂 Especially for those who might want to consider future CPU or GPU upgrades, and for those of you in Melbourne who can take advantage of local pick up and support, and the bonus offer!

Questions regarding Windows licenses & installation
– Yes, our licenses are 100% genuine OEM or retail licenses purchased directly from Microsoft authorized distributors. Physical copies of these products are provided with the PC including the license key cards and installation flash drive (for retail licenses) or COA stickers (for OEM licenses). Any system builder that doesn’t provide these could be charging you full price for a grey market key of significantly less value and questionable origin. Always demand the physical copies!
– Yes, if you purchase Windows from us we will have it pre-installed, setup, updated and with all the required drivers pre-installed ready to go out of the box.
– No we cannot pre-install Windows for anyone who doesn’t purchase a genuine license. We’d love to offer this as a service for those who already have a genuine license but selling a PC pre-loaded with Windows without a license purchase is strictly forbidden by Microsoft.
